Kids & Youth Boxing Programs

At Tarneit Boxing Fitness, our Kids & Youth Boxing programs are designed to build confidence, discipline, fitness and coordination in a safe, structured environment. Sessions focus on learning real boxing skills through age-appropriate drills, while keeping classes fun, engaging and supportive.

We place strong emphasis on respect, attitude and good behaviour — inside and outside the gym. Children learn how to move, focus and train with purpose, all under the guidance of experienced coaches who understand youth development and safety.

What Kids & Teens Learn in Our Boxing Classes

Kids and youth are introduced to correct stance, basic punches, footwork, and movement patterns through drills that feel more like games than hard training. They practice combinations on pads and bags, improve coordination, and learn how to follow instructions and work with partners.

As they progress, they develop better fitness, balance and body control. While boxing technique is a key focus, the program is equally about building self-confidence, resilience, discipline and respect for others — important qualities that transfer to school, sport and everyday life.

Our programs are generally suitable for children and teens from around 6 to 16 years old. Within that range, kids are grouped by age and ability to ensure training is safe, appropriate and enjoyable.

Yes. Safety is our highest priority. Classes are supervised at all times, use age-appropriate drills, and start with non-contact learning. Any advanced or contact work is only introduced gradually and with proper protection when appropriate.

No. Sparring and competition are optional and only offered to suitable, willing students who have developed the necessary skills and control. Many kids train purely for fitness, confidence and fun without competing.

Children should wear comfortable sports clothing and runners, and bring a bottle of water and a small towel. Gloves and basic training equipment are supplied at the gym for beginners.

In most cases, parents are welcome to watch from designated areas, as long as it does not distract the children. This helps parents understand how sessions are run and see their child’s progress.

Boxing can improve focus, self-control, discipline and self-confidence. These qualities often support better behaviour at school, improved social skills, and a stronger sense of resilience in everyday challenges.

No experience is required. Most children start as complete beginners. Coaches introduce skills step-by-step so kids can learn and build confidence at their own pace.

Most children benefit from attending 1–3 sessions per week, depending on age, interest, and other activities. Regular attendance helps them build skills, fitness and confidence over time.
